August Newsletter: Seeking your honest feedback
Aug 01, 2024Hello!
Season 1 of the Asian Mental Health podcast is now all done and I've been thinking about how the podcast changed some of my own behaviours too...
For me, even though I talk about mental health all day, every day, I walked away from our recording week and feeling motivated to get back to therapy again. It was this strange re-remembering of the fact that there are so many incredible clinicians out there, doing really amazing work and that there are so many different resources out there available to support us too.
I know all this cognitively, but diving into big conversations with our therapist guest-speakers reminded me of this on a visceral level... I'm not quite sure how to describe it but it's nice to observe the benefit that the podcast's had on my own life.
Anyway, now comes the task of trying to understand what benefit (if any) the podcast has for you. If you have any reflections or suggestions to share, I'd love if you could share them with us (anonymously if you'd prefer), via this 2 minute survey!
We look forward to hearing from you, and making improvements for you in season 2 (coming in October!)

🦉 Interesting things relating to mental health and Asian Australian identity:
📚 Academia: Continuing on last month's theme of forensic psychology, this paper explored whether rater bias occurred within forensic psychological assessments, and found that there was no cultural bias in the risk assessment process, despite it being known that there is a over-representation of CALD populations within prison systems.
🤳🏻 Music: Liminal - an Asian Australian literary collective, is hosting their first festival across August 2-4, where they will share stories and reflections on the cultural landscape of Australia. The Indian Film festival is also on from August 15-25, so make sure to check that out!
